We are still worried about the demining. We were told that "The Contractor may decide to conduct an independent assessment of the de-mining/war remnants status of the areas inside each offered block at the beginning of the contract period", and "De-mining and security costs are recoverable". Would you please tell us how long and how much would it take us to conduct an independent de-mining/war remnants inside each offered block in Afghanistan.

At this stage, it is not clearly established to what extent de-mining/removal of war remnants will be required, if at all, in the blocks currently on offer. However, it is in the interest of all parties that the Contractor ensures that the areas of the block in which it will conduct Hydrocarbon Operations meet its own internal safety requirements, through an independent assessment of the de-mining/war remnants status of such areas. Therefore, the MoM is not in a position to estimate the cost and extent of any such activities.
